Devious financial manipulations have increased in number and diversity, as well as in costs incurred by shareholders, job holders, the reputation of business, and our free enterprise system. It has been an epidemic. Millions of Americans have been hurt, directly and indirectly, by malpractices in a broad range of companies. Executive greed reached extraordinary heights. Beggar, thy neighbor took on new meanings. There has been a meltdown of corporate ethics.

Executives are confronting some negative reinforcement. Public scorn and humiliation provide a learning experience. Some executives have been jailed; great numbers are facing trial and an incredible number of personal lawsuits.
