About the Authors

Don Ezra is Global Director, Investment Strategy for Russell Investments. He is a widely published author, and has won a Graham and Dodd Award from the Financial Analysts Journal and the Roger Murray Prize from the Q Group in the United States. He was a delegate to the National Summit on Retirement Savings in 2002 and 2006 and to the White House Conference on Aging in 2006. In 2004 he was given the Lillywhite Award of the Employee Benefit Research Institute "for extraordinary life contributions to Americans' economic security."

Bob Collie has been working with defined benefit and defined contribution plans in the United Kingdom and United States for more than 20 years, playing at different times the role of actuary, investment consultant, and strategist. He has written and presented extensively on many aspects of the pension challenge—both actuarial and investment-related over those years. He works for Russell Investments, based in Tacoma, Washington, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Matthew X. Smith leads the defined contribution consulting practice in the United States for Aon Consulting. He has been involved with the design, implementation, administration, consulting to, and asset management of defined contribution plans for over 25 years. He has also written and spoken widely on topics involving defined contribution plans during his career. Matt lives and works in the Seattle, Washington, area.
