Choosing the Right Plan Options

Use the glide slope approach explained later in Lesson 39, “Taking the Right Amount of Risk,” to elect the right ratio of stocks to bonds for your point in your career. The glide slope approach systematically reduces your equity exposure as you near your target retirement date. Try to come as close as you can to global diversification within the plan choices. If you have low-cost index funds available, use them as your first choice to represent the asset classes.
