Epilogue

William knew it was time to step up and lead the change Gant Foster needed. He had practised his new skills and felt empowered and ready to take a leap of faith. He discovered that for him, a meaningful career was less about the trappings of being an Operations Director and more about being an authentic leader and being true to himself and his values. The job title didn't matter anymore – his soul was calling and he felt compelled to act. Of course, William didn't have all the answers, but he was certain things had to change and in his mind he questioned why people in the company weren't operating differently. Why did they act like robots, doing exactly what they were told? Why did they simply accept all the initiatives from head office and continue to do what was expected of them without considering the consequences?

William was now tuned to sense when people were running on automatic mode, remaining stuck in their ways and not being true to themselves. Occasionally the status quo would be challenged, but from what place? For the greater good of Gant Foster or simply to satisfy a personal need? Heck, some people would make a challenge just for the hell of it – what was the point of that? William wondered. If they could just be shown how to be more purposeful. If his fellow leaders truly knew themselves better and understood their core values, they could collaborate to ensure the company moved forward more positively. Everyone would benefit.
