Set behind a swinging half-door in New York City's century-old Municipal Building, the Mayor's Office of Data Analytics doesn't look like a hotbed of digital revolution. On its pale blue walls, where you might expect digital artworks or framed instances of good press, there is exactly nothing. There are no corner offices (or even assigned desks), just paper-filled government-issue steel cubicles that look as if they predate the first PC, sitting on government-issue gray carpet. At the receptionist's station, next to the gray couch, there's a snow globe and a plastic scene depicting some faraway beach.
Only the whiteboards scattered about, covered in sticky notes and scribbles, hint at what this unprepossessing ...
