CHAPTER 11 A Blueprint for Respectful Organizations

Over the past decade, I have worked with dozens of organizations to help them map out the strategy, resource requirements, and tools for building and sustaining respectful workplaces. Some were large, Fortune 50 companies; others were small; most were for-profit and some were not. The one thing almost all the organizations recognized early was that focusing on respect wasn’t a time-constrained initiative. It was a long-range, cultural aspiration to be pursued and protected with the same consistency and energy as any other strategic asset. One client explained it best the following way:
