IT DOESN’T TAKE MUCH TO MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS WITH ALL YOUR IMPORTANT CONTACTS—EVEN HUNDREDS OF THEM

Your power network is comprised of all the people you know who can make a positive difference in your future. They include your mentors, consultants, competitors, vendors, colleagues, and people in high places who have resources and connections you lack.

Is there a limit to the number of people you should have in your power network?

No. You should have as many as can be of benefit to you. These are the people you can call on pretty much whenever you need to. With that as the criterion, the number can be large.

Can you maintain so many relationships? I think so.

Since most successful people are busy with their own lives, they don’t require a lot of your time. It’s enough for them to hear from you now and then. Even once a year will do. Just make it something positive or pleasing.

If you write one personal note or e-mail per day (as I do), you can easily keep in touch with more than 300 members of your power network.

It will take only a few minutes, and will be well worth it.
