Generating Decision Alternatives

When only one course of action is possible (and action must be taken), there are no decision alternatives to compare. Additionally, the best decision cannot be made when there are too few alternatives. The best decisions usually result when many decision alternatives are considered and a strategy exists for arriving at the best decision. An effective strategy consists of three tasks.
