Quality Planning (PMBOK® Guide 8.1)

  What: Defining measurable standards for project results that matter to stakeholders and determining how to achieve them.
  When: Project initiation and planning.
  Results: Quantified project standards and objectives, supported by explicit plans.

Quality management for projects borrows heavily from methodologies generally associated with production and manufacturing, including “Six Sigma” and Total Quality Management (TQM).
