Prepare for Planning

Like a chess player, a good project manager plans several moves ahead. This process is an overall summary of many other processes described throughout this book. A summary flowchart indicates how some of the planning processes are linked, but project planning is iterative, and so there are many other possibilities.

Prepare for planning by reviewing project initiation information, the project objective, and other available documentation such as the project charter. Document and use project infrastructure planning decisions to guide your efforts.

Involve the core team in planning, as well as any others you need to model and document the overall project plans effectively.
