Track progress toward recovery of the goals.

Explicitly recognize improvements by thanking the individual (and his or her manager, if it is not you) for improved performance.

If problems persist, meet again. If several cycles yield no improvement, consider alternative ways to meet your project’s requirements, or, as a last resort, escalate resolution of the situation to your project sponsor or management.
