Aligning projects to business needs

Projects exist within a context, and for most of you that context will be a business or other complex organisation. A well-run project has a clear set of objectives, but these objectives are often set at the micro level of the individual project. Outside of the project there is a larger set of objectives or strategy that the organisation as a whole is trying to achieve. An individual project’s objectives may or may not be aligned to these corporate objectives – but irrespective of this they cannot be ignored. This part considers four typical contemporary business challenges that set a context in which projects operate.
