Level 1. Team Leader

The team leader is responsible for managing a sub-team as a part of a larger project. The team usually consists of two or three people, but may have up to five or six. The team leader may also be a participant in the team, responsible for producing project deliverables. The team leader reports to a project manager, who is directly responsible for a number of team leaders on the same project.

During project planning, team leaders produce the work breakdown structure and activity estimates for their teams and they participate, under the guidance of the project manager, in producing the project schedule. The team leader may recommend staffing, but the responsibility is that of the project manager.
