Project Management Methodologies

Methodologies come in two varieties: those that apply to the project team and dictate the steps that the project must take and those that apply to the management of the project. The former are usually called ''System Development Life Cycle'' methodologies or SDLCs. Most commercial systems development methodologies are targeted to the former requirements, but include some project management components. In addition, most methodologies claim to encompass the full range of IT projects, from development to infrastructure, but most are more heavily oriented toward one or the other.
