How to Attract People Into Project Management

Suppose that you have identified an ideal project management candidate, let's call him Fred. He scores high on the evaluation and he has shown an interest in management. Before you try to convince him that project management was made for him, consider the disincentives that will influence his decision. One of the strongest is the desire to remain in technical work. If Fred does not want to give up a technical career path, it is futile to try to coerce him into project management or to convince him of its benefits. All you can do is let him know your assessment of his potential for the field and let him think about it.
