What Makes a Good Project Manager?

Project management, like any other function, requires a set of skills and attitudes that are specific to the discipline. The skills can be taught and are discussed later in this chapter in the section ''Training Project Managers,'' but attitudes are more difficult to change. This section will present some of the key attitudes required of project managers and the corresponding behaviors that candidates for project management should exhibit. What is not included in this list are those characteristics that are required of any good employee such as honesty, reliability, and a good work ethic.
