ONE OF MY FAVORITE interviews to conduct was with Jeff Astrof, a comedy writer in Los Angeles. The interview was a challenge in the sense that as a TV show writer, Jeff’s got a pretty good handle on narrative structure and characters, so he knew more going in than many folks. By the time we’d exchanged a few emails and done a phone pre-interview, I’m sure he had a pretty good sense of the story lines I might pursue.
