In this chapter we have provided an overview of industry trends, the scope of the consulting industry—including the different types of consulting practiced in the field, the importance and benefits of becoming a trusted advisor, the four main areas of qualifications needed by all consultants, and the general topic of professionalism in the industry—and summarized a number of the challenges it faces.
