12.1. Enterprise Capabilities

To have capabilities in project business management implies that specific requisite capabilities are identified, developed, and maintained over time. Much of this book discusses those specific organizational process asset capabilities.

What is also needed is management and staff qualified to implement project business management. To confirm that this competency exists, personnel at all levels should be assessed. If personnel capabilities are missing, the enterprise needs to have a training and education program. This program is most effective when integrated as part of the career path development for individuals qualified to become project, program, or portfolio managers.
