Colors Interact in Powerful Ways

Your understanding and control of color contrasts can make the difference between an image that clearly features and highlights the subject and a snapshot that is difficult to understand. Color contrasts can also enliven and add impact to a photo. You have already seen one contrast in action—tonal contrast—as it affects color. There are three other contrasts that are quite effective for gaining more control over your image: complementary color contrast, cold and warm contrast, and saturation contrast.
