I well remember the first time I signed onto the Internet.

For months—actually for probably a couple of years—I’d been hearing about this thing. I wasn’t too clear about what it really was. It sounded as if someone had linked a bunch of computers together for some strange purpose and then turned the whole thing on, hoping for the best. Gradually, it became a little clearer to me.
