A tendency to view attractive people as intelligent, competent, moral, and sociable.

• Attractive people are perceived to possess positive intellectual and social attributes.

• Attributes of attractiveness include symmetrical facial features, clear skin, ideal waist-hip-ratios, indications of status, and signs of health and fertility.

• Women enhance their attractiveness to men by exaggerating fertility (e.g., lipstick for red lips).

• Men enhance their attractiveness to women by exaggerating status (e.g., expensive cars).

• Consider the attractiveness bias in contexts involving human interaction and images of people, such as sales and advertising.
