Chapter 11
Adjectives That Accurately Assess Performance
Adjectives turn a dull noun into something that shines or sears. Nouns, when used alone, may not totally describe what you’re saying about a person’s performance. Add an adjective and, voilà!, the noun now takes on gradations. Adjectives add to the intent of the feedback and help the employee truly understand how he or she is doing. As always, be prepared to back up your choice of adjective and noun with concrete, memorable performance situations.
