Adverbs That Accurately Assess Performance
A basic phrase can be turned into a strong, exact statement of an employee’s performance by adding an appropriate adverb. Adverbs modify verbs; therefore, if you want to qualify or expand the meaning of the verb, add an adverb. The selection of adverbs from which you can choose is endless.
Because adverbs add strength to your choice of verbs, remember to be accurate and objective with their use. You are not evaluating the employee as a person; rather, you are evaluating the person’s performance. This should be based on facts, never on personal feelings.
Here are some examples of correct use of verbs, adjectives, and adverbs:
  • Bill frequently shows up to work 30 minutes late.
