Yes, having the option to change your mind is important, but again, not the only reason for working in a nondestructive manner. If users limit these techniques to going back in time I worry that they are missing some great opportunities for productivity and creativity.

Bonus: Reverse Engineering

While working in Photoshop, have you ever produced a result you love due, in large part, to experimenting and playing around? Later on, however, you can’t figure out how you did it. If you use nondestructive methods to build the document—layers, adjustment layers, Smart Objects, and Smart Filters—and saved the document as PSD, you can “reverse engineer” to figure out how you achieved that result.
