The basic workflow you learned in Chapter 4 will let you process images quickly and skillfully. And I think it's good to practice with those steps until they become second nature. Once you've mastered that process, however, there are more techniques that will broaden your capabilities. In this chapter, I'll show you a handful of advanced techniques that'll serve you well with certain images. These tools aren't for every shot you take, but they'll help you make certain good shots look absolutely great.

Batch Processing in ACR

When you shoot a series of images under similar conditions, you can use batch processing to adjust multiple pictures simultaneously. This saves a tremendous amount of time. And the process is easy.

Begin in Bridge by selecting the pictures you want to process by ⌘-clicking them (Ctrl-clicking in Windows). Then open them in ACR using ⌘-R (Ctrl-R). Your pictures will appear in a column down the left side of the interface. Click the top thumbnail to select it, and then adjust the image. Keep in mind which controls you used.

Now click Select All, and then click Synchronize—both buttons reside at the top of the thumbnail column. ACR will present you with a Synchronize dialog box.
