The Student e-Portfolio

Academic e-portfolios are becoming commonplace in academia for four important reasons:

  1. They are effective tools for assessment, providing evidence of a student’s process of development over a period of time. They contain a wide variety of artifacts so the scope of assessment can be more holistic and complete. Assessment is more accurate because data can be triangulated from multiple sources of evidence, like photos, videos, and writing samples. Data can be also be used for course, program, and departmental assessment.
