More now than ever before, many photographers feel the need to put their own personal stamp on their imagery. Naturally, this depends on character (some people prize individuality while others just want to satisfy themselves by becoming more skilled), but photography has gone beyond a simple surge in popularity to become a near-universal activity. For many, understanding imagery is the new literacy and, if you already know the vocabulary and grammar of putting images together, the next step is to develop a style.
