Relevant Rights and Laws

Part Two includes an overview of the laws that are relevant to rights clearance issues. Before launching into Part Two, I want to highlight an element that will come up repeatedly in the discussion of media-related laws. It is the First Amendment to the United States Constitution which reads as follows:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
