28.1. Steps in a Rights Clearance Legal Action

Even when you take all prudent rights clearance steps, you may still be confronted by a lawsuit. A rights owner may voice an initial objection by filing a lawsuit or by sending you a cease and desist letter. Even when a lawsuit is initiated, many cases do not make it to trial. The lawsuit may be dismissed, or the parties may settle prior to a trial.
