26.1. Seeking Permission to Use Buildings and Locations

If the building or location is non-distinctive, you do not need permission to include its image in your production. You can consider a building non-distinctive if most people would not associate it with a specific person, organization, or product.

26.1.1. Trademarked Buildings

Some buildings and structures may be trademarked. Examples of trademarked buildings and structures include McDonald’s Golden Arches, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Empire State Building in New York City, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and Sears Towers in Chicago.
