23.1. Use of Footage in General

Footage is a clip or a short segment of an audio-visual production. Sources of footage include government agencies, local and network news agencies, movie studios, production companies, foreign broadcasters, commercial stock houses, independent filmmakers, and private individuals. This chapter focuses on licensing audio-visual clips or footage of audio-visual programs to incorporate into a production. If you want to license the right to screen an entire film at a school, church, or other organization, contact the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation, the production company, or the distributor.
