INTRODUCTION

Kenneth B. Kahn

The editors' goal was to put together a guidebook to help practitioners make improved decisions when traveling through the difficult landscape typical of new product development. Modeled after the first edition published in 1996, the second edition of The PDMA Handbook of New Product Development updates core chapters with current knowledge and adds new chapters to cover the many changes in the new product development (NPD) landscape over the last eight years. While the term "product" is used, material in this handbook is intended for practitioners in product and/or service development situations.
