30.7. Ensuring Continuous Improvement

Ensuring continuous improvement across your company's launch portfolio is the final step to successful launch. The mechanisms to do so are relatively simple, but implementing them requires discipline and a true commitment to organizational learning. In the long run, a company's product and service launch performance will greatly benefit from this focus.

NOTE

Implementing continuous improvement requires discipline and a true commitment to organizational learning.

After the company fully defines and documents the process, the sponsorship team designates an owner. This owner periodically reviews and updates the process with feedback on best practices from teams and management, as well as lessons learned from individual program reviews and external benchmarking data. In general, the sponsorship team reviews and approves both process metrics and changes to the process. This ensures organizational buy-in.
