We wrote this section primarily for academic scholars. In it, we show how we have been inspired by others, describe how streams of prior research have formed the foundation for our thinking, and draw connections between the principles advanced in this book and ideas advanced by others.
We wrote this book primarily for practitioners. The intent of our research, however, was also to advance new theory on the execution of innovation initiatives within established organizations. In doing so, we hope that we have opened doors for new research, including efforts to develop additional theory and endeavors to test the many hypotheses implied by our work.
