Not everyone should be a consultant. There are 7 billion people in the world today, each with his or her unique personality and set of abilities. Not all 7 billion are well suited to every vocation. Although I very strongly believe that anyone can learn anything if the content is broken up into small enough pieces, if the desire and aptitude for the job are not there, you will be miserable. As a consultant, you are responsible for client satisfaction, personal growth, and a fair profit for your company.
