FV Lock

FV Lock stands for Flash Value Lock, a feature that allows you to set the flash output value once and continue shooting while retaining the same flash output. Nikon bills it as a way to set the exposure with the subject in the center of the frame and then recompose the picture so the lighting is accurate when the person is off-center (see graphic below).
