Framework

Within our teams, the projects we create and execute sit within an overall framework, a model of which is shown in figure 11.1. The framework answers the questions why we implement, how we do it, and where. It’s made up of our context, our method and our environment. Within the team domain the focus for our framework is that it is shared. It is critical that the team is aligned on the why, the where and the how of major projects.

As we saw in chapter 5, all projects are implemented within an overall framework that gives the context, the environment and the method for the creation and execution of the endeavour. The implementation framework model contains all these elements, and this chapter looks at how to set up an effective framework within a team that is implementing projects that matter.

Context: why

Our context is, at the highest level, why we implement projects. It includes the purpose that the team has come together for, and the overall vision for the project.
