1 INTRODUCTION

This chapter provides a brief introduction to employment relations in Singapore in general and a case study on the various industrial relations issues between Singapore International Airlines (SIA) and its five unions. The case study traces the intense unionmanagement relationship occurring during the period from the September 11 tragedy to crisis management immediately after the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak.
