Taking Precautions Against Disaster

If you're like me, you'll underestimate the amount of time it will take to perform a hardware upgrade. When I upgrade hardware, I generally lay out in my mind the series of steps I must perform to carry out an upgrade, estimate the time for each step, and arrive at an estimate of the total time requirements. Unfortunately, there is invariably some complication along the way, particularly on a multi-OS computer. Perhaps a driver refuses to acknowledge that appropriate hardware is installed, or perhaps one driver interferes with another.
