Summary

Locating drivers for a multitude of OSs can be a challenging task, particularly if your OSs or hardware devices are exotic. Much of the challenge in locating drivers comes in tracking down all the possible sources of drivers. Although some OS manufacturers, such as IBM and Be, maintain Web pages that aim to help you in this task, with others you might be forced to perform Web or Deja News searches to locate drivers. You're also often faced with the challenge of converting information on the make and model of the product you have into information on the chipset it uses. Particularly for rarer OSs, drivers are often identified by chipset rather than by device manufacturer.
