GUI Add-Ons for BeOS

Compared to Windows or even OS/2, BeOS is a new OS, and its user base is small. Therefore, it hosts relatively few GUI add-on utilities. In fact, many of the GUI customization tools for BeOS are included with the OS itself. These features include

  • Icon customizations— You can change the icon for individual desktop objects by right-clicking the object and choosing Add-Ons, File Type from the resulting context menu. You can then edit the icon by double-clicking the image in the icon well (see Figure 17.11).
