Consequences of Drive Repartitioning

Your goal in repartitioning a hard disk is typically to make for a better disk layout in any of several ways, as I've just described. Your changes have very specific consequences for how you access your partitions, however, and you must understand and consider these consequences before planning your changes. In some cases, you might find that it's necessary to adopt a less-than-optimal disk arrangement to avoid catastrophic (or at least very annoying) consequences in the way you access your drives.
