Modifying Partitions

Most people who run more than one OS occasionally need to modify their partition arrangements on a working computer. There are several possible reasons for doing so:

  • Adding an OS— When you add an OS, you must often allocate space for the new OS by giving it partitions. This action entails modifying your current configuration.

  • Deleting an OS— When you remove an OS you no longer need, its partitions become fair game for use by other OSs.

  • Shifting disk space requirements— You might find that you use one OS for most tasks and another for a few. You might therefore want to convert disk space from use by one OS to another.

  • Fine-tuning configurations— You might have a working configuration that's suboptimal in some way. For example, ...
