Summary

Disk partitioning tools are extremely varied, but all manipulate the same data structures. Ideally, all create partitions that are compatible with all OSs, but there are occasional cross-platform glitches in partitioning. It's therefore generally best to use the partitioning tool provided by an OS to create partitions for that OS. Alternatively, you can use a tool that supports multiple OSs to create partitions for several OSs. Table 6.1 summarizes the features of the partitioning tools discussed in this chapter.
