Chapter 5, "Hard Disk Partition Basics," discussed why you might want or need to create multiple partitions for a multi-OS configuration and described the types of partitions available on x86 PCs. You should definitely read Chapter 5 before proceeding with this one because this chapter assumes a knowledge of these topics. This chapter expands on Chapter 5, describing the mechanics of creating partitions with an assortment of tools that come with various OSs and third-party utilities.
