The Desire and Need for Multiple OSs

I referred earlier to the Siren's call of running multiple OSs. Before proceeding further, it's important to understand something of the multi-OS appeal. When does that Siren's song lure you to something useful, and when does it lead to wasted time and frustration?

You should keep in mind that maintaining a multi-OS environment can be difficult, and it becomes more difficult the more OSs you add. Just two OSs usually aren't too tricky to maintain.
