Getting Started
Walk down the aisles of any computer superstore and you'll see them. Their boxes gleam. Posters proclaim that they'll solve your problems. You've heard your neighbor's teenage son wax poetic about them. I'm speaking, of course, about operating systems (OSs), and more specifically, alternatives to whatever OS you're running now (probably some variant of Microsoft Windows). The fact that you're reading these words means that you've heard the Siren's song.
