After graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a degree in English literature, Ms. Dworman entered the entertainment business as an assistant to theatrical producer Carol Shorenstein-Hays, later moved to Guber Peters Entertainment, then became story editor at TriStar Pictures. She joined Universal in 1997 as executive story editor, was appointed vice president, story department, one year later, before being promoted to senior vice president.
