Chapter 20: Commodity profiles

The discovery, mining and processing of mineral commodities is the lifeblood of the resources industry. There are dozens of economic elements that are mined in the form of hundreds of different minerals. It is not possible to cover all of the commodities and provide all of the relevant detail. However, it is important to appreciate some of the issues relating to the more common mineral resources. In the following pages I have attempted to distil a large number of source documents into easily read summaries, but by their very nature there will be some omissions.
